The Lake Manitoba Stewardship Board was created by Manitoba Water Stewardship in 2007. The LMSB provides advice to the provincial government regarding issues pertaining to Lake Manitoba water quality and quantity.


The most populated rural municipality surrounding Lake Manitoba is Portage la Prairie, with approximately 6,800 residents.


The Lake Manitoba Stewardship Board was created by Manitoba Water Stewardship in 2007. The creation of the board was one of the recommendations made by the Lake Manitoba Regulation Review Advisory Committee.

The Board's mandate is to enhance the long-term health of the Lake Manitoba Watershed along with Lake St. Martin, Pineimuta Lake, Fairford River, Dauphin River and to the mouth of Lake Winnipeg.
